DAR armchair, red-orange fibreglass shell on its original Eiffel base. Designed by Ray and Charles Eames in 1950. Second generation armchair manufactured in 1963 by Cincinnati Milacron for Herman Miller (recognisable by the “C” marking with a star). Orange-red shell with a lot of fibres, in very good condition with no discolouration, cracks or deep scratches. Original shockmounts, screws and Eiffel base. The legs are in original black finish, with superficial corrosion in some areas that has been treated. A few welds repaired in the past. The Eames DAR chair gets its name from its “Dining” height (D), its armrest (A), and its base with metal rods (R). Introduced in 1950, it is considered one of the most iconic chairs in design history, often referred to as the “Eiffel chair” due to its distinctive wire base reminiscent of the Parisian tower. Seat height +/- 42cm.
