Egg Pod Ball Chair Space Age in fibreglass – 1960s/70s

Spectacular vintage Egg Pod Ball chair, emblematic of the Space Age aesthetic of the 1960s-70s. Its sculptural and enveloping silhouette combines a round white fibreglass shell with a black seat highlighted by a red piping, a particularly successful graphic combination typical of the futuristic design of this period. The chair stands out for its low and generous format, with a curved and enveloping seat. The black upholstery features a beautiful design of curved stitching that complements the shape of the shell. Edition / manufacturer unidentified. This type of chair is often associated with the Space Age explorations of Eero Aarnio and appears under the name Egg Pod Ball, but in the absence of a brand or label to confirm its edition, we prefer to maintain a cautious attribution. The shell is made of white fibreglass. The seat in black faux leather and its red piping are in good vintage condition and show some visible signs of use in the photographs. The shell also retains marks of its history: small traces, superficial dents, and some paint loss, visible in detail in the photos. Note: the chair was originally equipped with a wheel system, which is now absent. The fixing points are still visible under the shell. The chair currently rests directly on its base and remains stable.
