Beautiful set of 5 engravings by jacques renaud bernard representing the parade room and the apartments of the duchess of orleans at the palais royal in paris, architectural ensemble designed by the architect of louis XV pierre contant d'ivry. The engravings represent the architectural details of the different pieces (moldings, sculptures, furniture etc.) this set of engravings was made for the copy of "l'encyclopédie" or "dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers" by diderot and d'alembert published in geneva in 1779 by jean-léonard pellet. Robert bernard is a rather mysterious engraver of the eighteenth century. He participated in the engraving of the encyclopedia of diderot and d'alembert. This work represents a large part of his work. Plate 30: "elevation on the side of the fireplace of the same room": this engraving has some small freckles on the sides. Plate 32: "elevation of the side of the fireplace of the same room". This engraving has some freckles on the sides. A circular freckle on the engraving. Plate 33: "elevation of the side of the chimney of the parade room": two folds. Two folds. Some slight freckles on the sides. Plate 34: "elevation of the side of the bed of the parade chamber": 3 folds. A straight freckle on the sides of the engraving. 3 folds. A straight freckle.
