Fröseke Charmant chest of drawers Sigurd Göransson 1960s

The fine, distinctive grain of the pine runs almost uninterrupted across this compact Swedish chest of drawers from the 1960s. Model Charmant was designed by Sigurd Göransson for Fröseke AB Nybrofabriken and features a clear construction in which the wood and carefully crafted details take centre stage. Two wide drawers rest above a slender open base with straight legs and connecting rails. The top subtly extends beyond the cabinet, giving the design a beautiful horizontal line. The fronts are deliberately kept simple, allowing the natural grain of the pine to remain visible. The original handles give Charmant its most recognisable detail. Cognac-coloured leather loops are attached between small brass holders and finished with light stitching. The warm leather and brass form a refined contrast with the light pine and give the sober design just enough character. The original factory label from Fröseke AB Nybrofabriken is still present on the back. It shows the model name Charmant and the Swedish material designation Furu. We have completely renovated the cabinet in our workshop. The old finish has been removed and the wood has been carefully retreated, bringing out the warm colour and lively grain. The piece is in very neat vintage condition, with some light traces appropriate to its age. Due to its compact size, it works well as a bedside table, but also as a small chest of drawers in a hallway or living room.
