An exceptional pair of PK22 lounge chairs, vintage models designed by Poul Kjærholm and produced by E. Kold Christensen in Denmark in the 1960s. Created in 1956, the PK22 is one of Kjærholm's most iconic creations, characterized by an exceptionally fine construction and a sleek form. Its slender profile combines a precisely shaped steel structure with a suspended seat and backrest, creating a light architectural presence while offering remarkable seating comfort. This pair retains its original black leather, beautifully patinated by decades of use. The leather features a rich natural patina, with subtle variations, creases, and signs of wear that highlight the authenticity and character of these early examples. The distinctive geometric stitching accentuates the structure of the continuous leather. The brushed steel structures showcase an equally appealing patina, providing a subtle contrast to the deep black of the leather. Their uncompromising design reflects Kjærholm's craftsmanship in working with steel, with the same delicacy traditionally associated with wood and other natural materials. Both chairs bear the manufacturer's mark E. Kold Christensen, confirming their vintage production. Preserved in their original condition, these chairs represent a particularly sought-after version of an iconic piece of Danish modernism. Sold as a pair.
