State of wear and tear. To be restored. The chairs have damaged and stained fabric but the seat is perfectly good the shells do not have any cracks or other. The ball bearings are perfectly functional, the chairs rotate well except one that is surely to grease a little. The table has a diameter of 1 meter and has a built-in extension cord that once unfolded makes a table of 140 X 100 cm. When did roland schweitzer, a french architect and urban planner (1925-2018), find time to design this l202 chair model It is indeed attributed to him, the stamp engraved in the resin proves it. It was published by lafargue in 1970. It is a moulded shell lined with brown fabric, swivelling on a chrome metal axis and 4 feet cross. We note the nice detail of the chrome profile highlighting the edge of the hull. The very scandinavian influence testifies to the architect's career, which deserves to be traced a little. He was a pupil of auguste perret and jean prouvé. Pioneer of the revival of wooden architecture in france, influenced at a very young age by the japanese architect sakakura (himself a disciple of le corbusier) and the no less famous scandinavian alvar aalto, he will experience three periods in his career: that of the hostels de jeunesse (he will make a dozen), holiday villages, airy centers, recognized as major works classified as heritage for some, then his urban period in the paris region, before devoting himself to travel and conferences. The list of his achievements architecturally speaking is so impressive that it brings us back to our introductory question! We know him well some wooden furniture, benches and stools (very expensive for that matter) intended for these friendly living spaces that he designed, but this l202 chair is all the more rare to grasp!.
