Jean Batenburg for MI brutalist bar cabinet in ebonized oak, Belgium, 1960s
A compact brutalist bar cabinet designed by Jean Batenburg for MI, Belgium, during the 1960s. Executed in solid oak with a dark ebonized finish, the cabinet features a strongly geometric design with deeply faceted oak panels on the front doors, arranged in a repeating diamond pattern. The cabinet opens to reveal a contrasting light-coloured interior with integrated lighting, a glass shelf for bottles or glassware, and two pull-out drawers for concealed storage. Raised on simple rectangular legs, the cabinet maintains restrained proportions and architectural character. The keys are present. Good vintage condition with visible traces of age and use, including rubbing, scratches, small marks, and areas of wear, especially on the top, edges, corners, and around the doors, revealing warmer oak tones beneath.
