Large Murano Sommerso Glass Bowl or Catch-All / Vide Poche, Italy, 1960s

Beautiful large sommerso murano glass bowl (italy, 1960s). Can be used as a bowl, catch-all / vide poche or as an ashtray as well. Made of thick red, dark red and clear murano glass. Width: 17 cm; depth: 12.5 cm; height: 5.5 cm. Excellent vintage condition. ''sommerso'' is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer.
