Still life with pewter inkstand and old books – Marjolein van den Berg

A wide, landscape still life with a pewter inkstand from the collection of Jan Beekhuizen, with old, well-thumbed books, a quill and a pounce pot in raking light. Painted in acrylic on canvas by Marjolein van den Berg, c. 2011, as part of her series of still lifes with pewter and archaeological finds. The artist trained at the Tekenacademie and the Grafische school in Amsterdam and is known for trompe-l’oeil murals and panels. This series was shown at Jan Beekhuizen's art and antiques gallery in Amsterdam. The painting is in good condition, with a black-painted wooden frame with a gold-coloured inner slip. Signed 'Marjolein' on the front. The work suits a classic or antique interior, but also works as a contrast in a modern or rustic setting. Dimensions (with frame): 75.4 cm wide X 40 cm high X 3.2 cm deep. Technique: acrylic on canvas, hand-painted. Artist: Marjolein van den Berg, the Netherlands, c. 2011.
