Beautiful Danish "Teak-Kina" pendant light, designed by Bent Karlby for Lyfa, circa 1950. This uncommon model is a mid-century design classic. The shade is made of frosted opaline glass. The lamp is complete with its original brass screws, teak rings, and glass lens. The top ring allows access to the 75-watt maximum bayonet bulb. Shaped like a Chinese lantern, it diffuses a beautiful, soft, and soothing light. The pendant is wired with its original wiring. It has been tested and is in perfect working order. In excellent condition and without any damage, it will be delivered without a bulb. The glass elements and teak rings are intact. Visible signs of age: the electrical cable is slightly yellowed. The Danish architect and designer Bent Karlby was born in 1912 and died in 1998. Although he is known for his interiors, wallpapers, and accessories, few of his creations have stood the test of time like his lighting designs developed for Lyfa. Most of Karlby's lighting designs possess a "Space Age" aesthetic expressed through the use of metal, acrylic, or glass.
