Unique XL Artillery Shell Umbrella Stand – WWI Trench Art (1915) – Lion Hea

A very rare and unique umbrella stand crafted from three German artillery shell casings from World War I; marked "GFSP" and dated 1915 at the base, the stand is decorated with brass lion heads on either side and bronze feet shaped like lion's paws. This is a one-of-a-kind collector's item—robustly made to a high standard during the first half of the 20th century. It is a unique piece that tells a story and serves as a conversation starter; furthermore, it is highly decorative and functional, making it much sought-after by militaria collectors and enthusiasts of unique objects. GFSP stands for *Geschossfabrik Spandau*, a German munitions factory located in Spandau, near Berlin. German casings from Spandau are associated with very heavy artillery; these most likely belonged to a *Mörser*—a massive German mortar or howitzer. Casings for this type of gun are relatively wide and distinctively short.
