Antique fine earthenware plate signed hb quimper, dating from the 1930s, hand-decorated with a breton male portrait in traditional costume. This motif is rare, we find this breton but with a hat without a ribbon or without the white triangles on the brim of the hat. The central character is represented from the front, wearing a large hat with black ribbons, with a deep blue underside - an original detail that catches the eye. The rim is decorated with the traditional stylized flowers typical of quimper, framed by a double brown border quite rare for this period. Ivory background and simple shape without festoon, characteristic of pre-war productions. Handwritten stamp hb quimper rr 176, decoration entirely hand-painted. Diameter: 23.5 cm very good general condition, no chips, shiny enamel. Some signs of use related to age: a hairline crack under the underside not visible when the plate is placed. A piece full of character for collectors or lovers of authentic breton tableware.
