Art Deco English plates Gladstone

Set of 8 antique dessert plates in fine porcelain by Gladstone China, made in England around 1925–1935. The decoration features a very characteristic vocabulary of English Art Deco: black dotted lines, stylised motifs that are almost architectural, touches of vermilion orange, celadon green, purple, and yellow highlighted with a discreet golden rim. The shape deserves attention: a softened square with flowing contours, balancing geometry and organic curves. A very elegant and unusual silhouette, typical of the decorative explorations of the interwar period. The coloured glazes exhibit a slight relief that is perceptible in reflections and to the touch. Perfect size for: Pastries, Small cakes, Scones, Tea time, Refined presentation. Overall good condition. Slight wear to the gold and signs of use consistent with age.
