Stipo Monetiere, Piedmont 17th century cabinet with 8 drawers - Walnut Italy 17th century Do not hesitate to contact us for any questions Central door with large molded diamond. 8 symmetrical peripheral drawers. Wood: walnut (exterior) / pine (interior) The cabinet must have rested on a low base or been placed on a chest; the two current "legs" are a later addition to transform it into a high cabinet. The interior reveals three fixed shelves. It was probably a piece of furniture intended to store valuable documents, coins or personal objects in a noble domestic setting. Presence of small hidden compartments under the lower shelf. Late Renaissance / rural Baroque, with Spanish influences perceptible in the geometric treatment and architectural symmetry. Very good general condition. Period fittings and lock in good working order. Slight play noticeable at the feet, which disappears once the piece of furniture is leaned against a wall. The whole thing is robustly made, easily weighing around 70 kilos. Measurements: • Height: 175 cm • Width (cornice): 119 cm • Depth (cornice): 32 cm • Usable interior depth of shelves: 15 cm.
