Very large chest of drawers from the Louis XIV period in marquetry – late 17th century.

Important and very decorative Louis XIV period chest of drawers, featuring rich marquetry of various wood species. The front opens with four drawers arranged in three rows, with the two upper drawers being adjacent. Each front is adorned with remarkable marquetry depicting scrolls, foliage, birds, and stylized motifs, organized within geometric reserves and highlighted with contrasting fillets. The top, particularly interesting, showcases marquetry with large reserves of wood in contrasting shades, bordered by fillets and finished with a wavy and molded edge. The sides are also decorated with marquetry panels featuring floral and vegetal motifs, reflecting the care given to the entire piece. The chest rests on small flattened ball feet. The dark frames of the front particularly enhance the richness of the woods and the finesse of the decoration. An antique piece that has retained traces, wear, restorations, and accidents related to its age, notably visible on the top.
