Oval centre table in solid mahogany from the Directoire, Empire period.

Exceptional Dining Table / Oval Centre Table made of very high-quality solid mahogany with an architectural X-shaped base featuring fluted columns, from the Empire / Directoire period (early 19th century). This mahogany piece showcases a superb moulded oval top with a remarkable patina and a robust structure on its original central base. The structure, base, and main top are in excellent condition. The centrepiece of this furniture is its remarkable and rare architectural base: it features four tapered and fluted columns connected by an X-shaped stretcher with deeply curved lines, topped in the centre by a sculpted circular medallion or ring. Due to the rarity of its base, this table can be beautifully used as a dining table (seating 4 to 16) and/or as a centrepiece table / display table for a grand entrance. Both table tops, the base, and the extension system are detachable. Period extensions are not provided. One (1) medium extension measuring 113 x 40 x 2 cm is included.
