Maison Lecan presents this brutalist coffee table in solid walnut, France, 1970s. The top is a single slab with a live edge preserved all around: irregular, natural, with traces of bark on one side. The grain of the walnut is exceptional: pronounced swirls, warm brown-red tones, darker areas that play with the light. The satin varnish finish enhances the material without overwhelming it. The four solid walnut legs, with a square section flared towards the bottom and slightly angled outwards, firmly anchor the piece to the ground. The vocabulary is brutalist, direct, without ornamentation, built around raw material. The table is low and massive, bordering on a sculpture.
