Set of 8 Cherner Chair seats consisting of 5 chairs and 3 armchairs in beech veneered in "classic" walnut. These 5 chairs and 3 armchairs are in very good general condition. They have been used little, and always with care. They were used for a reception dining room, so not daily use, very occasional. Here and there, only a few slight traces or marks distinguish them from new condition. This iconic design in molded plywood by Norman Cherner was created in 1958 and can be found in design collections around the world. This series dates from the mid-2010s and was manufactured by the Cherner Chair company from the original drawings and molds in the United States. The Cherner Chair company was founded by Noman Cherner's two sons, Benjamin and Thomas, in 1999 to reissue their father's furniture, which could no longer be seen except in antique dealers, museums and the living rooms of a few privileged collectors. Norman Cherner (1920-1987) was an American architect and designer who, like his compatriots Charles and Ray Eames and the Danish Arne Jacobsen, explored the many possibilities offered by the curved plywood technique developed by the Finnish Alvar Aalto.
