There are antique bowls in Asia, lacquered and slightly flexible because their core is made of horsehair. The tsé & tsé convinced a Vietnamese lacquerer to use a textile core in the late 90s. It is on a wooden form (like that of a hat) that the strips of fabric were crossed and covered with 8 layers of lacquer (the protective sap of rhus vernicifera). The saucers are, therefore, extremely light, flexible and resistant and the shine of the black lacquer makes them irresistible. They were designed in 1999 and ordered in series of 500 pieces annually for 4 years. Therefore, there are only 2000 series. Dimensions: approximately 12 cm and height approximately 3.5 cm. In very good condition. They are entirely handmade and are all different. Please note: the lacquer has worn a little on the back of one of the cups, see last photo, but it is not cracked, visible only on the back ••• Careful shipping or hand delivery in Paris.
