We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent pair of original open bookshelves from the Regency period, circa 1810-1820, made of mahogany, with Italian marble tops surmounted by brass gallery rails. A beautiful pair, very finely crafted from period mahogany, the tops are solid slabs of fine Italian marble finished with brass gallery rails. These are highly decorative and collectible pieces of English library furniture. The condition has been cleaned, waxed, and polished from top to bottom. There are signs of patina related to age and use. The only note is that the gallery rails have been restored; they still have a bit of play over time as they are very fine. Dimensions Height: 120 cm, Width: 61 cm, Depth: 20 cm. Please note that vintage items from the period, such as leather seats, always have a natural patina in the form of creases and wear. We recommend annual waxing to prevent moisture loss. Hand-dyed leather is not recommended for prolonged exposure to direct sunlight as it dries out and discolours.
