Stoneware vase by Francisco Pereira (1948-2023) / Puisaye. Japanese-style vase with an elongated neck. Height 45 cm. Diameter 26 cm. Portuguese ceramist born in the village of Oliveira near Barcelos in the Minho region. From a very old family of potters, Francisco began working in the family workshop at the age of 7. In 1972, Francisco Pereira was recruited by Roger Jacques. Francisco was chosen for his consistent work on large pieces. He continued to work in this region, developing a diverse and refined production of utilitarian and decorative stoneware. Although influenced by the daily work of the potters of Saint-Amand, his work is distinctive and personal. Francisco experimented with new textures, matte and glossy glazes, and layering techniques. He collaborated notably with Robert Héraud & Annie Maume, Jeanne and Norbert Pierlot.
