Ceramic pitcher Robert Picault – Vallauris – 1950s

Superb vintage ceramic pitcher from Vallauris, signed at the base with the monogram "RP" accompanied by the three characteristic dots of Robert Picault (1919-2000). This piece from the 1950s captivates with its sculptural silhouette and remarkable modeling work. Its generous body narrows into a curved neck, extended by an elegantly pinched spout, particularly pronounced, which gives the whole piece a unique movement and personality. The geometric decoration is hand-painted: vertical stripes alternating between copper green and oxide brown stand out against a bright white glaze. The decorative work continues onto the handle, adorned with a brown band framed by green fillets. A fine green outline also highlights the upper lip. The whole piece benefits from a beautiful glaze shine, enhancing the nuances and artisanal character of this ceramic.
