Large portrait signed Luigi Sorio and dated 1898

COD 11276 Large Italian painting signed and dated 1898. Oil on canvas, early canvas, work depicting the portrait of a Milanese noblewoman, of good pictorial quality. Large and impactful painting, on a light background, depicting an elegant lady seated on a Renaissance armchair. Painting adorned with a beautiful 20th-century wooden frame, carved and gilded. Painting signed Sorio L., dated 98 Milan (see photo), attributable to the famous portrait and landscape painter Luigi Sorio (1835-1909), lacking authentication. Painting that has undergone conservative restoration on the edges of the canvas, probably in conjunction with the replacement of the frame. It has a small tear in the lower center, on the lady's dress, where a quick intervention was carried out to hide the defect (see photo), to be restored for better viewing. It includes a reference to the subject of the portrait on the original frame (see photo), currently under study. Painting in good general condition with some signs of aging.
