Superb plate/wall art piece in honey yellow ochre glazed ceramic from the Foucard-Jourdan factory in Vallauris, dated 1959. An emblematic piece from the 1950s with incised decoration in the clay, representing a stylised female profile with a scarf (in the vein of the modernist creations of Jean Cocteau and Picasso in Vallauris). Signature & Inscriptions: On the decoration: Artist's monogram incised at the bottom right of the motif (to be deciphered). Under the base: Official oval stamp embossed FOUCARD-JOURDAN VALLAURIS A.M., signature of the workshop painter and the year '59 engraved.
