Large Louis XV style fireplace mirror, 19th century. Dimensions: Height: 166 cm. Width: 63 cm. Elegant fireplace mirror or trumeau in Louis XV style, made of carved and gilded wood. The dynamic silhouette of its frame, with the characteristic curved lines of the rococo style, is enhanced by a prominent openwork pediment richly carved with acanthus leaves, scrolls, shells, and flowers. The frame features a refined decoration of beaded mouldings and leafy motifs arranged on the uprights and corners. The rich ornamentation of the pediment reflects particularly careful sculptural work. The mirror retains its original mercury glass, or at least period glass, showing slight alterations and nuances that contribute to its charm and authenticity. The back in old parquet confirms a traditional 19th-century manufacture. With its harmonious proportions and beautiful decorative quality, this mirror will naturally find its place above a fireplace, in an entrance hall, or as a major decorative element in a classic interior.
