Travel trunk by Jacob J. Schuff

This is a magnificent trunk, both in its exterior silhouette (almost flat) and in the recent interior layout. If the signature is not among the best known, it only further proves its exceptional character. It indeed elegantly bears the traces of its history, attached to an exterior that oozes authenticity. Superb handles, now protective (also unusable for transport, the hooks being cut), on the sides, associated with fittings, the main one in brass with a renovated shine, make this superb piece a collector's item and decoration. It is covered with a canvas which bears beautiful marks of time, which gives it this additional character since this in no way alters its presence, on the contrary, it further enriches it. Fans will appreciate its authenticity... And will not fail to be ecstatic when opening it... The interior is in fact fitted with a pretty tray, a sort of additional compartment for optimal storage. Opening it therefore provides a rather unexpected delight, and the dazzling continues by discovering this removable interior part which creates a double space not only of the most beautiful effect, but also of appreciated convenience. The central brass fittings, stamped with a registered trademark, further enhance the silhouette of this beautiful witness to the past by adding a golden touch which gives it a sort of youthful air. The brand that we repositioned inside, stamped "jacob j schuff" (better known under the jjschuff label) comes from the United States. Its founder was born around 1833. He died on October 23, 1903 in New York in the United States at the age of 70. This trunk is therefore probably a 19th century heritage, probably before 1900, and that it is a trace from the 1870s would not be surprising.
