This large 19th-century mirror with a pediment belongs to the family of objects known as "neo-troubadour" style. Born from the influence of Victor Hugo's novel: Notre Dame de Paris, ornamentalists successfully revisited the medieval era, creating specific decorative codes for the occasion: winged dragons, griffins, crenellated tower motifs, woodwork with parchment patterns, etc. The Château de Pierrefonds is an architectural example for which Viollet-le-Duc was the master builder, leaving behind an architectural dictionary that is a bible for lovers of this style. This mirror could become the centrepiece of your fireplace... And your living room as well. Its presence radiates in the rooms where it is located. The antique silvered glass with two tiny blemishes attests to the authenticity of the object. Revisited in grey and gold leaf, perfectly restored in tones that match the new trends in decoration, without betraying its personality. A magnificent pediment consisting of a coat of arms framed by two "confronted" dragons crowns the whole. The result is almost perfect! (a bit of modesty...) It will certainly inspire you to visit Notre Dame or to see the famous musical again if you haven't already; word of Quasimodo!.
