Large fireplace mirror in Louis-Philippe style, dating from the mid-19th century. Its rectangular frame with classic mouldings — cavetto profile and torus — reflects the understated refinement characteristic of the period. The gold leaf gilding rests on a reddish-brown Armenian bowl, visible in places where the gilding has aged over time: a window into traditional techniques and the authenticity of the piece. The corners, joined at an angle, bear the gentle marks of the years — slight cracks and traces of old restorations — which give it a character that only time can bestow. The back is reinforced with a plywood panel, a discreet consolidation added later to preserve the whole. The piece is in need of restoration: a beautiful gilding rediscovered, and this mirror will regain its former glory. Height 125 cm, weight 20 kg. Perfect above a stone fireplace, in a classic interior or in an entrance with a romantic soul. A piece of character, ready to find its place in your home.
