This mid-century modern stoneware vase, crafted in Sweden during the 1950s, features a hand-sculpted design with a unique 45-degree angled mouth rim. The vase is adorned with two mustard yellow butterflies over tulip-shaped leaves, set against a dark grey and white striped background created using the intricate sgraffito technique. This method, developed by Polish designer Marian Zawadzki, involves carving fine lines through a light-colored glaze to reveal a contrasting dark grey clay slip beneath. The vase is marked on the bottom with the initials 'Mi' and either '63' or '65' and includes a small handle for added functionality. A fine example of Swedish craftsmanship and mid-century modern design, this piece is in good condition with wear consistent with age and use. Dimensions: Height 21.5 cm, Diameter 8 cm.
