Blond cherry sideboard from the early 19th century. Antique cupboard.

This majestic dresser dates from the early 19th century and is made of blonde cherry wood. It has a striking presence due to its size and its magnificent blonde wood with a patina of over two centuries. The upper part, with its removable cornice, opens with two grand doors made of solid wood (of course, everything here is solid) featuring visible dowels and a beautiful fluted central band that is part of the left door. This door is held on the central shelf by a hook, while the right door closes with a key and its original lock (!). The brass hinges of the doors are gleaming and operate as smoothly as on the first day. Inside, there are two thick original shelves with incredible patina and a third one at the bottom, equipped with two very practical drawers. They have brass pull handles. The lower part opens with two large doors on hinges as well, and closes in the same manner, with its beautiful period key. Inside, there is also a thick original shelf. These pieces of furniture have an incredible charisma, but this is also due to the imperfections accumulated over time. Here, there are small missing sections on the top right door's plinth, usual wear and tear, corners marked by the movement of the doors, etc. There are also old traces of wood-boring insects that have left galleries, especially on the lower plinth of the upper part and the left upright of the lower part (see all the photos on my website). Aside from the fact that this is extremely common in furniture from before central heating, they have apparently been stabilised for a long time (no traces since being stored at my place). They have, however, been treated with Xylophene for added peace of mind.
