Humppila Kasvimaalla Vegetable Garden Art Glass Bowl by Pertti Santalahti.

Vintage Humppila Kasvimaalla art glass bowl by Pertti Santalahti, Finland, 1978. The design is a broad flat disc in deep amber brown graduating to clear at the jagged leaf and petal-shaped perimeter, the organic texture of the glass surface referencing the forms of a kitchen garden. Signed by the artist on the underside. Original Humppila sticker intact. Pertti Santalahti graduated as a designer in 1962 and served as Humppila Glassworks' product developer from 1971 to 1981 and artistic director from 1974. His works are held in museum collections in Finland and internationally. The Kasvimaalla series, meaning "In the Vegetable Garden", was designed in 1978 and produced continuously until 1985. It included bowls, vases and candleholders in brown, green, blue and clear glass. At Ø31cm this is a large example of the series.
