The vase from Kamenický Šenov is an example of 19th-century Czech glassmaking, distinguished by its vivid colour and richness of detail. Made of transparent, honey-amber glass of high clarity, it combines a geometric, faceted edge line with decoration typical of oroplastic art – a relief application of gilded rose and leaf motifs, precisely arranged around the widest part of the vessel. The flared, polished rim and careful shine highlight the skill of the grinder and ornamentist, while the faceted segments of the base catch and refract light, bringing out the depth of colour. A signature or original label placed near the upper edge confirms the authenticity and origin of the piece. The vase is in excellent condition – with no visible damage or signs of intensive use, which is rare among items of this class and age. The form and decoration of the vessel evoke the story of Art Nouveau finesse and 19th-century love for rich ornamentation. The vase quietly tells the story of an era when table art and daily ceremony required an unusual setting: gilded floral motifs like a garden scene captured for a moment, arranged in the amber light of glass. The geometry of the cut and the hand gilding suggest both technical mastery and a sense of theatrical decorativeness at the end of the century – the form does not overwhelm, but rather narratively turns towards the light, exposing further layers of sculptural detail. The vase can be displayed on a walnut veneer console or an oak chest of drawers, where the wood structure meets the shine of glass and gilding. It works well in arrangements referring to eclecticism, historicism or modernist collector interiors, especially alongside other period items – e.g. Porcelain figurines or a classic clock. It is worth combining it with a neutral background and a single flower branch or leaving it empty, so it becomes the main accent of the arrangement. The polished segments of the base will gently reflect light – this effect can be enhanced by placing the vessel near a window or spot lighting.
