Art Deco vase from the 1930s, made at the Józefina Glassworks in Poland, features a deep shade of cobalt crystal with a high, mirror-like gloss. The geometric silhouette, characteristic of the era, combines a flared neck, soft rounded shoulders, and a subtly tapered base. The central part of the vase is decorated with a galvanically applied silver or metallic coating, formed from stylised, rhythmically repeated floral motifs with sharply pointed, radiating petals. The metallic ornament is a striking accent against the cool, deep tone of the glass. The surface is smooth, with no cracks, chips, or significant signs of wear: all decorative elements are original and in excellent condition. There are no clear signs of restoration; the entire piece shows precise craftsmanship and careful forming, attributed to premium products from the Józefina Glassworks of the interwar period. Condition: very good, with minimal patina appropriate for its age. This vase carries the spirit of noble modernism from the interwar period – a time when Polish applied art sought dialogue with the European avant-garde. Its geometric form and cool cobalt shine evoke visions of contemporary salons, where crystal and metal were symbols of progress, not just decoration. The floral motif seems to whisper the hopes of the era: symmetrical yet dynamic, creating tension between the rigour of form and decorativeness. In daylight, the surface takes on shimmering reflections; in the evening, the cobalt colour dims, leaving the graphic outline of silvery motifs. The vase can be placed on a veneered console or in the centre of a low table – paired with minimalist ceramics or a single branch, it will introduce an Art Deco accent to the interior. It fits well alongside mirrors with geometric frames or period lamps, where the galvanic coating meets the metallic sheen of other accessories. It can be combined with a woollen, patterned rug or a dark wall background to bring out the intensity of the cobalt glass. An interior in the spirit of collector's modernism or eclectic classicism will highlight the historical and decorative layer of this object.
