Enrico Franzolini Steel 2000 Lounge Armchair for Moroso, Italy

Original Steel 2000 lounge armchair designed by Enrico Franzolini for Moroso, Italy, dating from the 2000s. The Steel 2000 is a sophisticated expression of contemporary Italian furniture design, combining a slender architectural metal structure with generously upholstered geometric forms. This example features vibrant yellow wool-blend upholstery contrasted by an exposed chrome-plated metal frame. The polished framework outlines the sides and rear of the chair and continues into remarkably slim legs, giving the substantial upholstered body a visually light, almost floating appearance. The chair retains its original Moroso manufacturer’s plaque, quality-control label and production label. The latter identifies the model as STEEL 2000 and specifies the original upholstery as Tonus 2000 giallo, composed of 90% virgin wool and 10% nylon. Designed by Enrico Franzolini, an Italian architect and designer known for his furniture and interior projects, the armchair reflects Moroso’s longstanding collaboration with leading international designers and its experimental approach to upholstered furniture. The strong yellow upholstery, restrained geometry and polished metal detailing make this an excellent statement piece for contemporary and modern interiors, whether used as a lounge chair, reading chair or sculptural accent seating.
