Mechanical cigarette dispenser "Obus" in brass – Heraldic Flower Style
Superb and unusual curiosity object from the Mid-Century period (1950s-1960s): a table cigarette dispenser shaped like a cartridge shell in heavy patinated brass. Its telescopic mechanical system is of great ingenuity: by lifting the upper ogive via its central rod, an articulated metal corolla automatically opens like a fan, revealing 18 cells ready to present cigarettes in a theatrical manner. • Decoration & Details: The front face is adorned with a magnificent raised heraldic-style crest, featuring a shield with the royal Fleur de Lys, framed by two rampant lions and topped with a princely crown. An elegant and highly textured design. • Material: Thick brass and chrome/gold metal. Solid base ensuring perfect stability of the whole. • Dimensions: • Closed height: 21.6 cm. • Open height (deployed): 33 cm. • Base diameter: 7.2 cm. • Condition: Very well-preserved vintage condition. The sliding mechanism works without any friction points. The brass has a splendid original golden patina with some slight natural surface oxidation marks on the back and base (see photos), highlighting the authenticity of its history. Ideal for enhancing a retro bistro atmosphere, complementing a vintage bar cabinet, a coffee table, or a stylish desk.
