Floor lamp by Angelo Brotto, Italy 1950s

Superb sculptural mid-century modern floor lamp by Italian designer Angelo Brotto from the 1950s. This floor lamp is made of black steel with brass elements, a white lampshade adorned with colourful geometric patterns, and a white-grey marble base. The patterns on the lampshade feature the typical colours of 1950s modernism: black, red, blue, and yellow. The lamp has three E27 sockets. Angelo Brotto (1914-2002) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 1941. That same year, he received a significant commission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to create frescoes in Montenegro. He participated in numerous Biennales, and his creations were quickly celebrated at many exhibitions. Materials: marble, plastic, steel. Origin: Italy. Period: 1950 – 1959.
