A bombé chest of drawers in kingwood in Rococo style, dating from around 1880, Paris, France. An exceptional piece in the Louis XV style, crafted with remarkable finesse by the famous Parisian cabinetmaker Gervais Maximilien Eugène Durand. The chest features an elegant bombé silhouette, with a polished, shiny top, front and back, allowing for free placement. The top is finished with a checkered veneer pattern, while the sides showcase finely executed floral inlays in marquetry. The piece has four drawers, each with a brown and gold embossed leather panel. The gilt bronze mounts, handles, and feet are finely chiseled and forged in solid fire-gilded bronze. The craftsmanship reflects the highest standards of 19th-century Parisian manufacturing, evident in every detail. The body and each of the four drawers bear the mark "G. Durand." The piece is in its original, unrestored condition, well-preserved for its age. Dimensions: width 71.12 cm, height 50.8 cm, depth 30.48 cm.
