1930s side table with magazine rack in "Art Deco" style. Its construction combines a robust structure made up of four cylindrical legs with a slightly overhanging rectangular top and an integrated magazine shelf. The whole presents a sober and architectural aesthetic, characteristic of the early modernism of the 1930s. The side panels are adorned with patterns created using small brass nails, while a row of nails discreetly highlights the edge of the top. These decorative details evoke the vocabulary of André Sornay and certain French productions from the 1930s. This table was entrusted to us by the granddaughter of the cabinetmaker who made it and who has always known it in this condition. The wood shows signs of old insect damage, likely predating its manufacture and related to the use of parts of the sapwood. These marks, now stabilised, contribute to the character of the piece. As a precaution, it has been treated preventively against wood-boring insects. A unique piece, straddling the line between regionalist furniture, modernism, and late Art Deco. Very good structural condition.
