Bauhaus Shelving Unit, Black Steel Tube

This Bauhaus shelving unit in chrome-plated steel tube and black lacquered wood shelves follows the constructional logic that shaped Czech and German workshops of the 1930s. The frame is formed from a single, broadly curved steel tube that supports three shelf levels in an arc. The shelves themselves are made of wood and black lacquered, with rounded corners and a matte surface. At 100 cm wide, 30 cm deep, and 57 cm high, this steel tube shelving unit is compact and suited to many placement situations: as a raised unit on a sideboard, as a desk shelf, or as a freestanding storage piece on the floor. The interplay of matte black wood and polished chrome is one of the defining characteristics of Bauhaus aesthetics. Preserved in excellent condition.
