This desk lamp was designed in the early 1970's, and was produced by napako company in former czechoslovakia as type 85133. The designer, josef hurka is regarded by the art historians as the most talented and commercially most successful czech lighting designer of the second part of the 20th century. His lights are modern, very desirable and many of them are considered as icons of the czech design. This particular model won a czech design award in 1962. This piece is another great example of hurka’s brilliance. The lamp has a minimal, clean form and elegant cream colour. The c shaped steel bar that effortlessly connects the adjustable lampshade with the base oval bar is a genius solution and the main design feature. The on/off switch is located on a cable separate from the lamp. Despite being produced in 1970's, this lamp design is extremely contemporary. The lamp is in great vintage condition. There are some minimal scratches and wear on the lampshade, the steel rod and the base due to normal wear and tear. All parts (including the switch, the bulb fitting, cord and the european plug) are original and fully functional.
