"Argos" armchair by Baumann, France, 1980s. Designed by Baumann in the 1980s, the Argos armchair is distinguished by its instantly recognisable silhouette. A large curved wooden arch envelops the backrest, while the low and generous seat gives it an almost architectural presence. Through the simplicity of its lines and its design reduced to the essentials, it evokes both certain late Scandinavian explorations and Japanese minimalism. This example has been dressed in natural leather, a more recent intervention that particularly complements the warmth of beech and enhances the organic character of the armchair.
