Pair of outdoor wall lights 'Nyhavn' by Alfred Homann & Ole Kjaer for Louis Poulsen - Denmark

The Nyhavn wall lamp was designed by Alfred Homann and Ole V. Kjær in 1976. It won an award in a competition organised by Louis Poulsen for lighting in historic and heritage areas. Alfred Homann had worked on drawings and models prior to the competition, which allowed him and his colleague Ole V. Kjær to submit their entry in just five days. Alfred Homann explains the concept of this lamp: "It was important for the luminaire to be smaller and more discreet than other products available on the market at that time." The light is characterised by a conical shade and three anti-glare rings that diffuse a soft light upwards. Beautiful patina.
