Charming pair of Swedish bedside or desk lamps, most likely produced by EWÅ Armaturfabrik in Värnamo during the 1940s or 1950s. Each lamp combines a warm-toned wooden base with elegant brass hardware and a cone-shaped metal shade in soft ochre yellow with a fine hammered texture. The shades are decorated along their lower edge with a delicate repeating motif of small perforated dots arranged in flower-like clusters — a sweet period detail that casts a pretty pattern of pinpoints of light when illuminated. The shades can be tilted and swivelled via a brass ball-and-socket joint at the top of the gracefully curved arm, allowing the light to be directed as needed. The brass arm rises from a beautifully sculpted acanthus leaf casting at the base — a refined decorative touch that bridges Art Deco ornament with Mid-Century practicality. Each base houses a small ivory-coloured plastic push-button switch, neatly integrated into the wood. The wooden bases have a warm honey-toned finish with a elegantly carved edge. Both lamps have been rewired and are in very good vintage condition. One base has a small light spot visible (see photo), and the brass shows a natural patina consistent with age. A lovely matching pair, equally at home on a bedside table or a writing desk.
