Very rare set of 8 Cesca B32 chairs stamped Gavina by designer Marcel Breuer, 1960. The Cesca B32 chair, named after his adopted daughter Francesca, was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928. The chair is made of tubular steel based on the cantilever principle. This is a very rare series of Gavina edition chairs from 1960, stamped and therefore with very specific details: The seat in Viennese caning has been handmade, strand by strand. The chrome tubular structure has been made in one piece with both ends closed by high-quality invisible welds, not caps like many more recent reissues. The top of the beech backrest is slightly curved. The "Gavina" stamp is present under all the chairs, authenticating their provenance. The 8 chairs are in very good vintage condition, the black lacquered beech wood has a beautiful patina of use with signs of age relative to their years. The manually caned seats are in generally good condition and still taut for all 8 chairs. One of the seats has a few damaged strands of caning but is still functional. The chrome is in perfect condition. Exceptional stamped chairs, Gavina. Seat height: 46cm.
