Antique French Silver Plated Tray by Durousseau & Raynaud
Description
Magnificent and rare art deco silver-plated tray from the durousseau & raynaud goldsmiths in lyon, early 20th century. Durousseau and raynaud distinguished themselves for having designed all of the elegant art deco silverware for the french railway company plm (paris-lyon-marseille). The paris-lyon to marseille-saint-charles line, also called the "plm line" after the acronym of the former compagnie des chemins de fer de paris à lyon et à la méditerranée, or "arterie impériale" or "ligne impériale" because it was used by napoleon iii, is an 863 km railway line linking the three largest french urban areas: paris, lyon and marseille. Operated from 1857 by the plm until 1938. This large tray mounted on four small feet with its central handle certainly has many travel stories to tell: it is just superb! This is a rare piece that is no longer found. With goldsmiths' hallmark. And wear from use. Dimensions: length 41 cm / 16.1" width 34.5 cm / 13.6" height 16 cm / 6.3" weight 2.2 kg.
