Ruud-Jan's work has been awarded multiple times at both national and international levels. Ruud-Jan Kokke: "Originally, I designed the 'Armchair 21' to thank a very dear friend. I wanted to create an archetypal object, without frills, understandable, simple, and transparent. An object with visible connections, a perfect unity of material and construction, as well as comfort. Without secrets, you can see how everything has been assembled and made from a single material, wood. I wanted it to be useful and to give the user a sense of time. One should feel supported in this chair but also grasp the feeling of being aware of the moment while sitting. The awareness of being on thin transparent slats while relaxing in the comfort of the chair is something quite special, even exciting, for me.
