Vintage mirror in faux bamboo from the late 19th century 60x50cm

Mirror in faux bamboo, probably dating from the late 19th century or early 20th century (Napoleon III or Belle Époque period). Contrary to appearances, the frame is not made of real bamboo, but of turned and carved beech or pine wood to imitate the knots and texture of the exotic plant. This was a major trend of the time, inspired by Japonism. A crosshatch assembly with bevelled ends, typical of this style of furniture, can be observed. The solid wood back panel and visible old nails suggest an ancient handcrafted production. The wood has a beautiful original patina, although there are some signs of use that testify to its age. Ideal for a so-called Chic Rustic or Boho-Antique interior decoration. Width 61/49, height 48/36.
