Unique bowl with an intense blue decoration signed Le Henaff. The signature under the base ("LE HENAFF" or a close variant, often read as "DE MENAFF" depending on the handwriting and glaze) corresponds to her pieces. She worked in her workshop in Larmor-Plage (Morbihan) from the 1960s until her death. Of Polish origin, she left Poland in 1946, studied at the Applied Arts in Paris, lived for a time in Madagascar (where she met her husband), and then settled in Brittany. Encheres-nantes-labaule.com. She is known for her characteristic blue/turquoise glazes (often referred to as "blue Le Hénaff"), decorative or utilitarian pieces in faience or stoneware (bowls, vases, plates, lamp bases) with stylised, abstract, botanical or animal motifs, sometimes in relief or painted. This bowl (interior with radial/central black motifs) fits well with her style and productions from the 1970s-1980s. Good condition.
