Exceptional Brazilian coffee table from the 1950s, signed by the designer Zoltan Vertes, a recognised figure in modernist ceramics in Brazil. The top combines a wooden frame with a decoration of glazed ceramic tiles featuring the characteristic abstract patterns of his work, in beautiful shades of turquoise green, brown, and deep black. Pieces by Zoltan Vertes regularly appear in Brazilian modernist furniture from this period. The structure rests on four black lacquered metal legs and includes an elegant magazine rack, a detail that is both practical and decorative. The whole reflects the influence of post-war Brazilian modernism, where craftsmanship and furniture converge in particularly refined creations. The Brazilian provenance is confirmed by the presence of import customs stamps and its original label still visible under the top. These elements provide an interesting testimony to its history and enhance its authenticity. Condition: generally good. The ceramics are well preserved. The top has a slight deformation in the centre (bump) as well as some signs of use consistent with its age. The structure is stable and perfectly functional. A rare piece on the European market, ideal for a modernist, Scandinavian, or eclectic interior.
