Modular CSS bookshelf by George Nelson for Herman Miller

Rare library edition by Herman Miller designed by George Nelson from the 1960s. This is an authentic Herman Miller edition (not to be confused with the version by International Furniture). The publisher's label from Herman Miller is still present. This library can be fixed to the floor/ceiling thanks to the adjustable base but can also be mounted to the wall as the connectors are provided if needed (see last photos). Note: I have not installed the photos shown. This ingenious system (CSS = Comprehensive Storage System) allows you to place these elements wherever you want on the metal uprights to create a composition tailored to your needs. You can see one possibility here in the photo as an example. This set consists of: 2 modules with doors and an internal shelf. 1 module with 3 small drawers and 1 deep large drawer. 1 file storage module with dividers. 1 lectern for displaying books, photos, etc. on an inclined surface. 7 shelves for storage and display. The 5 metal uprights are equipped with brackets that can be fixed at the desired height to attach the shelves or storage boxes. The uprights measure 250cm and can be extended up to 270cm. All elements can be fixed to the front or back of the uprights depending on individual needs. This library is a real asset for those who want to combine practical storage with aesthetics. The entire set is made of wood with a rosewood veneer. It is the most sought-after version on the market with its black uprights. Condition report: I have posted a large number of photos that provide a clear view of its condition. This set is in good to very good condition, with no breakage, no missing elements in the frames, and all assembly parts are complete. However, this library is not new; it is vintage, so it has slight scratches and surface wear in certain places. These minor defects are remnants of its use, they are shallow, not easily visible to the naked eye, which gives the piece its overall charm and the beautiful patina of the wood.
